My wife and I went out on Sunday morning to a local coffee shop called Nseven. Our envelope that we drew contained $50.00 of which we matched that amount to make it an even $100.00. When we arrived at Nseven we thought maybe it would be a struggle to pay it forward as the coffee shop was very crowded with no signs of people coming in, well that didn’t last long. Within a couple minutes, a mother and daughter came in with the daughter bringing 2 of her friends, when they went up to order, I walked up to them and explained that we wanted to do a random act of kindness for them and pay for their coffee. The mom was shocked and said I have 4 people, to which I said that’s fine we have it covered. After a brief conversation she accepted our offer and was blown away at how nice that was. During that time several other people had come in as well, I looked at my wife and she simply said yes, let’s take care of everyone that had just come in. After all was said and done, we managed to make the morning of 12 different people, all of them more grateful and thankful than the next. There were 2 employees only working that morning and we also wanted to take care of them, so my wife said to throw in another $20.00 to what we had left so that we could tip them $50.00. Dwight the owner of Nseven was one of the 2 working, and I thanked him for giving us the opportunity to be able to do this at his place. He stated he couldn’t take that kind of tip, and I said well you already accepted it so it’s yours. He and the other girl working were blown away and beyond thankful. As we were leaving the building, each person we paid it forward to, again said thank you and how thoughtful of a gesture it was to start their day off that way. For me personally, my heart was full just watching the expressions on everyone’s face. Paying it forward and doing good for others is what life is about, so often we take so many things for granted and overlook some of the simplest things like buying a coffee for someone. I’m glad I was able to take part in this again, it was a true joy to do so. – Jay S.
