SpartanNash, a grocery store chain based in MI, started its usual internship program at the beginning of the summer. Andy Clausen, the store’s vice president of National Accounts, came up with the idea to break the world record for the largest word made out of packaged food. + To do that, a group of 24 interns used 5,791 items, including canned corn, green beans, fruit cocktail, and more. Together with a few company employees, they built the word “SpartanNash” in the headquarters parking lot. + They measured the word to be 150 feet (45.72 meters) long and 16 feet (4.87 meters) deep. After that, the company donated the food to Buist Community Assistance Center – a local nonprofit that provides food and clothing to people in need. + “The interns came together to create solutions, have fun and serve our community – a great example of our core behaviors in action,” Andy commented. — h/t: NY Post Photo: Guinness World Records
