According to a recent study, rapper Logic’s song “1-800-273-8255” may have helped prevent suicides. The song’s title is the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Upon the song’s release in 2017, a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and a performance at the Grammy Awards — nearly 10,000 calls were made to the lifeline, a nearly 7 percent increase over the average number of calls for those time periods, according to the study by the British Medical Journal.
